Trauma to Transformation

Open call to Folks who were formerly incarcerated or affected by those were formally incarcerated to participate in a 13 week theater workshop where we organically develop the voice of the participants to a final ensemble piece. 

"We are starting a workshop series in Teatro and Creative Writing for adults June 11. From Trauma to Transformation is a project inspired by the work of Luis J. Rodriguez to reduce and end mass incarceration. This project is about bearing witness to those impacted by the system to change the perception of mass incarceration. We will be using the arts as a tool for the participants to find their voice, and share on their terms how they were impacted. This workshop is open to adults who were formerly incarcerated. Please respect the privacy of those who will be attending."

Monthly Workshop

Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural is having monthly workshops in teatro! The process is similar to the metamorphosis endure by a worm to become a butterfly. Once the person (actor) trust and commits, their journey begins within the medium of theater. Yet, what makes us different is that we are coming from the perspective as indigenous people.

A series of theatrical techniques, such as A synthesis of Theater of the Oppressed, Indigeneity and modern theater practices. .
